0 Haiti… Struggle Continues

CBS News did a story the other night about the rebuilding efforts in Haiti.  The article points out that the Haitian President has said "it will take at least three years to remove all the debris and only after that he said, can Haiti begin to rebuild."  That's a long time, but progress is being made each day with -- including building temporary schools.  Check out the article when you get a moment, it's worth your time.

0 Sove Lavi means “Saving Lives”

There's an organization that's been providing aid to Haitian families for years.  It's called Sove Lavi.  Translated it literally means "saving lives".  What a wonderful organization that is doing tremendous work in helping the people of Haiti in this desperate hour.  Please take a moment to check them out.  It's well worth your time.

0 Saint Patrick’s Day… ten years ago today

I've written about it before but quite frankly there is no better day to write about St. Baldrick's than today.  It was ten years ago that a bunch of reinsurance executives decided to substitute their year Saint Patrick's Day party for a fundraiser for kids with cancer.  The rest is history with folks all over the world shaving their heads each year at events that continue to raise money for a worthy cause.  Although we haven't ended our battle to eradicate cancer, St. Baldrick's helps to provide some of the funds we need to research a cure.  So Happy Saint Patrick's Day and happy 10-year anniversary to St. Baldrick's.

0 Haiti Recovery Efforts Continue

The American Red Cross announced today that it has surpassed the $100 million mark in aid to Haiti.  That's really terrific news and shows how kind-hearted and generous Americans are, especially as we consider the current financial struggles hitting so many families.  The aid being sent to Haiti is helping to fund so many worthwhile projects and aid the overall recovery.  The country was devastated by the earthquake back in early January but it's heart warming to see so many reach out to help so many in need.  A good start.
